DIG revitalized this outdated lecture hall into a contemporary, technology-forward learning environment inspired by a “digital matrix” design concept.
This lecture hall, located within the Guttenberg Information Technologies Center (GITC), had remained largely unchanged since its original construction, requiring full replacement of seating, finishes, and building systems.
Inspired by the building’s technological identity, the redesign introduces a rectilinear grid—or “digital matrix”—expressed through lighting, ceiling elements, and acoustic treatments, creating a layered visual rhythm that reinforces the building’s tech-forward character.
Set against a neutral palette with strategic red accents, the design balances energy with visual focus. Graphic acoustic panels at the rear of the room further reinforce the digital theme while improving acoustic performance for lectures and presentations.
