DIG Architecture Unveils Bold Rebrand and “Groundbreaking” Vision at 20th Anniversary Milestone Event
Surrounded by clients, collaborative partners and team members, DIGroup Architecture – now officially DIG Architecture – launched a vibrant new brand identity and narrative during its 20th Anniversary Appreciation Event, recently held at Hamilton Farm Golf Club. The rebrand marks a high-energy transition into the firm’s next chapter, anchored by the powerful new tagline: “We are DIG Architecture. And we are Groundbreaking.”
The transition coincides with two decades of the firm’s evolution. DIG traces its roots to NJK–12 Architects, a groundbreaking alliance of five competing firms formed to support New Jersey’s Abbott District school improvement campaign. The success of that collaboration ultimately inspired four of those firms to unite as Design Ideas Group Architecture, creating a practice grounded in collaboration, innovation and community impact.
In its early years, DIG expanded that mission through transformative K–12 projects, entry into the design-build arena and community-focused initiatives ranging from local school partnerships to post-earthquake rebuilding efforts in Haiti. The launch of the firm’s in-house graphic design studio further strengthened DIG’s integrated design approach – laying the foundation for what would become New Jersey’s largest Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) architectural firm.
Leveraging its early urban public-school work as a springboard, DIG Architecture has since cast a wider net from K-12 school specialization to diverse studio offerings in higher education, senior living, healthcare, civic and community spaces and airports. It also has expanded its geographic presence and design portfolio with offices in and assignments across Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley and New York City.
A Narrative Rooted in Transformation
DIG Architecture’s new brand voice is reflective of the firm’s energy, confidence and unapologetic directness. It reflects a firm that doesn’t just build walls or ceilings – it pushes through them. The rebrand is a tribute to the firm’s “down-to-earth” roots and its tireless commitment to creative ideas that connect deeply with the human spirit.
“At DIG Architecture, we have always been inspired by the world around us and the people we serve,” said Jeff Venezia, CEO and co-founding principal. “This rebrand is a celebration of our past and a bold vision for our future. We are groundbreakers who share possibility through design, creating opportunities out of steel and concrete to build futures, communities and hope.”
The new tagline, Groundbreaking, captures a dual meaning essential to the firm’s identity. It represents the physical moment a vision becomes reality as the first shovel hits the earth, while simultaneously signaling bold, industry-shifting work that challenges convention and refuses to follow trends.
“We live at the intersection of purpose-built design and innovation,” said Vince Myers, president and co-founding principal. “Every project we touch is a transformation; every space we design is a chance to change a life. This new identity empowers our team to continue using creative, uplifting design to solve complex challenges for our diverse communities. We’re always ready to ‘DIG in’ so to speak.”
Value the Past, Envision the Future
While the look and voice of the firm have been modernized to reflect a vibrant and engaging culture, the foundational responsibility of the firm remains unchanged. DIG continues to be a leader in the PK-12 and higher education, healthcare, senior living, civic and aviation sectors, serving as a community anchor and a “civic diplomat” for underserved populations.
“We are more than architects; we are builders of connections,” added Co-Founding Principal Rich Alderiso, COO. “Our 20th anniversary is the perfect moment to roll up our sleeves and define what the next 20 years will look like. We are entering this next chapter with a professional confidence and a creative energy that is truly groundbreaking.”
The rebrand rollout includes a new visual identity, an updated digital presence and a renewed commitment to mentorship and diversity initiatives that broaden access to the AEC profession for those who have long been underrepresented.
